#2 Outdoor Adventure: Track & Field Day
Who needs an Olympic stadium when you have your own backyard or local park?
Here’s what to do:
Using small cones or other “markers” create a large square in an open space such as a lawn; this will be our track! (Some Olympic sports happen around the track, like running short and long races, and some sports happen in the middle of the field, like discus and long jump!)
With that in mind, play the following sports:
Sprint: Run once, as FAST AS YOU CAN, around the track
Marathon: Run THREE or even FIVE times around the track
Relay Race: Find a cardboard tube, and use as a baton, passing off to your partner after you run one lap
Hurdles: Pretend small sticks are hurdles and jump over while running
Discus: Throw a Frisbee as far as you can
Long Jump: Create a line with a stick and see how far you can jump past the line
Take an action shot and post it on social, tagging @thewonder so we can see!
