For campers to do on their own before reporting back to the cabin check-in!
#1. Storytime: Ordinary ‘Ohana
By Lee Cataluna and Cheyne Gallarde
This is a little book about a big family making the point that family is who you choose and there's always room for more at Sunday dinner, even if it's on Saturday night, or Wednesday night, or whenever. Read for Wonder Campers by Maile Holck, a theater performer and Native Hawiian from The Big Island of Hawaii.
Watch a read-aloud here!
#2 Outdoor Adventure: Island Hop
Like Hopscotch, but instead of hopping numbers, you’re hopping the eight islands of Hawaii: Hawaii (the Big Island), Maui, Oahu, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Niihau Kaoholawe. Add in a letter or thematic image to represent an island per box, and use a coconut (okay, a rock) as a marker.
Take a picture of your Island Hop and post it on social, tagging @thewonder so we can see!
